Pain After Knee Replacement?
Knee replacement addresses damaged joint surfaces, but some patients continue to experience pain, stiffness, restricted movement, or difficulty walking even after surgery and rehabilitation.
Persistent pain does not automatically mean the replacement has failed.
Potential contributors may include:
-
Post-surgical scar tissue
-
Restricted muscles and fascia
-
Limited range of motion
-
Changes in gait
-
Compensation involving the hip, thigh, or lower leg
-
Soft-tissue dysfunction surrounding the surgical area
New, severe, or unexplained pain following knee replacement should first be medically evaluated to exclude infection, prosthetic problems, fracture, or other complications.
For medically cleared patients, The Pain Whisperer evaluates soft-tissue restrictions and mechanical dysfunction that may be contributing to persistent pain after surgery.
Treatment does not change the prosthetic joint itself. Our focus is on potentially treatable restrictions in the tissues and movement surrounding it.
See patients with persistent postsurgical and other chronic pain conditions describe their treatment experiences and results.
